Getting Licenced (Training)

The Flight Refuelling Amateur Radio Society public training courses for entry level (Foundation) and next level (Intermediate) licences, have come to an end.

If you are looking for training you might like to consider the Essex Ham training courses.

Since Alan (M0VLT) took over as the lead instructor in January 2013, FRARS have run the following courses…

Foundation; 28 courses with 135 examinable students. There were 118 passes with a success rate of 99%. The discrepancy in the figures comes from students who failed, then re-sat and passed.

Intermediate; 14 courses with 53 examinable students. There were 53 passes with a success rate of 100%.

Full (primers on transmitters & receivers and maths/electronics only); There were 10 courses with 22 examinable students. There were 10 passes from these, some of which took more than one attempt.

Training at FRARS has largely ceased now due to the lack of demand caused by the removal of practical assessments and the ease of booking on-line exams from home. There are no longer have enough students to put a course on. However, we would consider putting on a training course if you are a group of at least 6 people looking for training.
